The Team

Julius Lim

Founder & CEO

Julius founded CompAsia in early 2013, with the vision of making smartphones more affordable for consumers and reducing high levels of e-waste globally.  


CompAsia encourages a new habit of reusing smartphones, by providing low cost financing, insurance, subscription, trade in, buyback and resale solutions for pre-owned devices.  Under Julius’ direction, CompAsia has grown rapidly and is now the leading secondary devices solutions provider in Asia. 

Prior to launching CompAsia, Julius worked for The Boston Consulting Group for several years. Julius holds a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering and Economics from The Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

George Hashim

Chief Strategy Officer (CSO)

George Hashim joined CompAsia in early 2018 to oversee strategy and help drive the growth of the business.  He is a telco industry veteran and successful entrepreneur, with over 22 years experience in the telecoms industry.  


Previously, he was Co-founder & Executive Director of AmTrust Mobile Solutions Asia, a B2B mobile solutions provider and CEO of Redtone Pakistan and Redtone Mobile Malaysia, an integrated telecoms services provider.  George was also the Co-founder and CEO of Mycom International, a business specializing in telecom mobile network infrastructure projects and engineering outsourcing services for network service providers and mobile operators across Asia. 


George holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from CLU in California, US.   

KianLeong Yap

Chief Financial Officer

Before joining CompAsia as Chief Financial Officer, Kian Leong was Executive Vice-President of Finance, Tax and Treasury at TARH Khazanah in Malaysia.  He also held executive roles as Chief Financial Officer of Asian Broadcasting Network and before that was Head of Finance at ASTRO. Kian Leong also ran a consulting business providing corporate advisory and corporate finance services to clients across a range of sectors.  


Kian Leong is a qualified chartered accountant. He has qualifications from the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA) (UK), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) (UK) and is also a senior member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). He attended the Systematic College of Education in Kuala Lumpur and Emile Woolf College in London.

Rudy Kok

Head, Financing

Rudy heads up the device financing division at CompAsia.  He is responsible for overall end consumer and enterprise financing solutioning. He previously worked as AGM (Assistant GM) of the Credit Card division at Hong Leong Bank for 7 years  and before that was Head of Commercial Marketing at HSBC Bank for 1.5 years. 

Rudy holds a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from the University of Hertfordshire in the UK and an MBA from the University of South Australia. 

Joseph Ng

Head, Used Device Sales & Purchases

Joseph is the Head of Secondary Device Sales at CompAsia. He is also responsible for device procurement, pricing and business development efforts with key partners across various countries. 


Before joining CompAsia, Joseph worked at the Ministry of Defence in Singapore as a Policy Officer, with a concurrent appointment as Military Private Secretary to the Senior Minister of State for Defence. He also held various leadership appointments in the Republic of Singapore Navy prior to that.  


Joseph holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University College of London and a Masters degree in International and Development Economics from Yale University.

YouWei Tan

Head, Device Subscription

YouWei heads SmartSub, CompAsia’s fast-growing smartphone subscription business launched in May 2019. Prior to joining CompAsia, YouWei was in corporate banking for 6 years, managing key accounts including GLCs and other large corporates. 


YouWei holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
