The first glance  

Off the bat, we see the iPhone SE retains that classic iPhone look; it has the high chin and top bezel, along with the touch-ID enabled multifunction button at the front. The edges are curved, with a glass front and aluminium back. The iPhone Mini on the other hand, has a smaller bezel, without a front-mounted button. The edges are modern and angular, which does feel better in the hand.

Screen

Processing power 

Both iPhone pack plenty of power with the iPhone 12 Mini equipped with the Apple A14 Bionic chip and the iPhone SE with the Apple A13 Bionic chip. As these two chips are still relatively new, most of the processing are neck-and-neck. Even with 4GB RAM on the iPhone 12 Mini and 3GB RAM on the iPhone SE, even some of the more processing power-heavy tasks are completed around the same time. 

Camera 

The iPhone 12 Mini wins hands down with its dual Camera setup; both 12 megapixels with a low f-stop of 1.6 for the main camera and f-stop of 2.4 for the ultra-wide secondary camera. The iPhone SE on the other hand has a single 12-megapixel f/1.8 camera set-up, which performs well in terms of photos and videos, but is no match to the iPhone 12 Mini, especially in low-light conditions.  

For front facing cameras, the iPhone 12 Mini has an impressive 12-megapixel f/2.2 camera that comes with 4K capabilities. This is a huge step up from the iPhone SE’s 7-megapixel that still manages to perform well enough. 

Battery 

Even with a more brilliant display and processing capability, the iPhone 12 Mini outlasts the iPhone SE. This is due to its 2227 mAh battery. The iPhone SE has only 1821 mAh. Both of these phones however, come with wireless charging and fast charge, which will get you up to 50% in about 30 minutes. 

Conclusion 

The iPhone 12 Mini definitely looks and feels more premium with its sharp angles and wider display. It also comes with premium features making it one of the few top-notch small phones in the market today. All of these features come with a price of course.
